Rev. Julius Walls, Jr. brings more than four decades of executive leadership across the for-profit and nonprofit sectors to every engagement. His career has been defined by building organizations that operate with excellence while advancing mission.
As CEO of Greyston Bakery, he led a nationally recognized social enterprise that grew from $2.5 million to $7 million in revenue — tripling operating profit while pioneering the open hiring model that created pathways for individuals often excluded from the workforce. He secured $10 million in financing for a new facility and negotiated three union contracts that increased employee income while reducing costs.
In community development, Rev. Walls has overseen the development of affordable housing, managed multi-million dollar federal grants, and partnered with organizations to deliver foreclosure counseling and workforce development. He currently serves as COO of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church and as Pastor of the Institutional A.M.E. Zion Church in Yonkers, New York.
Rev. Walls holds a Master of Divinity from Wesley Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Concordia College. He served as the first Social Entrepreneur in Residence at New York University's Stern School of Business and has taught at the graduate level at multiple institutions.
His work is guided by a simple conviction: faith must be embodied — in how we lead, how we serve, and how we build institutions that reflect the values we profess. That conviction is now the foundation of Walls Wisdom Works — a nonprofit consulting organization dedicated to equipping faith-based institutions to grow with purpose and operate with excellence.
